Practices | Uniforms | Weigh-ins | Games | Rules

Eastern Pender County Pop Warner Association offers flag football for ages 5 - 7 and tackle football for ages 5 - 13, depending on weight. The age is the participant's age on July 31, 2010. Tackle football players are placed in divisions based on the Pop Warner Little Scholars Age and Weight Require-ments. There is no weight limit for flag football partipants.

Flag, Tiny-Mite and Mitey Mite divisions are considered non-competitive.

 

PRACTICES

EPCPWA football practices will begin August 2, 2010 at Kiwanis Park in Hampstead, NC. Practices will be from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Flag football players should wear shorts, t-shirts and athletic shoes or cleats to practice. Tackle football players should wear shorts, t-shirts and cleats. No metal or steel cleats allowed. Do not wear football equipment until told by your coach. After completing 10 hours of conditioning, players will begin wearing practice uniforms, full pads, helmets, and mouthpieces.

Water will be provided.

UNIFORMS

Flag football players will be provided with a uniform jersey, game socks, and a mouthpiece. Players are responsible for providing their own shorts (without pockets) and athletic shoes or cleats. No metal or steel cleats allowed.

Tackle football players will be provided with helmets, uniform jerseys, game pants, game socks, and a mouthpiece. Players are responsible for shoulder and pant pads, practice pants, and cleats. No metal or steel cleats allowed.

Tackle football players may only wear helmets during the first 10 hours of practice during conditioning.

Helmets and mouthpieces will be distributed during the first week of practice. Parents have the option and it is the league's recommendation to purchase Shock Doctor mouthguards which provides maximum impact protection for the teeth, jaw and brain.

The uniform jerseys and game socks will be distributed prior to the first game. All clean jerseys and helmets must be returned at the end of the season.

TACKLE FOOTBALL WEIGH-INS

Every tackle football player will be weighed in at the beginning of the season to determine division assignment. Players must maintain the weight requirements throughout the season for their division. Players will be weighed prior to each game by Coastal Pop Warner officials. The player must weigh within the published weight range during the first week of the regular season. each subsequent week, the allowed weight will increase by one pound.

Players are weighed in their full uniforms, without their helmet.

GAMES

All regularly-schedule games will be played on Saturdays beginning in August (actual date TBD) at Ogden Park in Wilmington. The regular season runs through October. Schedules for all divisions will be posted upon receipt and on the Coastal Pop Warner website.

Teams in the Mitey Mite division and older are eligible to compete in post-season competition based on their records. Post-season play can run through Thanksgiving.

RULES

All football players and their parents must read and sign a copy of the 2010 Participant Contract and Parental Consent Form before participating in Eastern Pender County Pop Warner Association. These rules are designed for the safety and fair treament of all players.

Flag football teams follow the Pop Warner Little Scholars rules. Coastal Pop Warner provides nonprofessional officials for flag games.

The tackle football teams follow North Carolina High School rules (slightly modified for younger tackle divisions). USA Football certified officials are provided by Coastal Pop Warner.
